You read that right! Kids who are more active increase their test scores. However you may feel about standardized tests, they are a part of our students' experience. So why not encourage them to be active at home as well as at school?
What is a giraffe doing here? Taking your kids to an open place like a zoo or park is a fun way to get active. Both the Como Park and Minnesota Zoos require a good deal of walking to see all of the exhibits. It's also a great way to spend family time together.
Don't forget, healthy active lifestyles don't refer only to physical activity. Mental and emotional health are equally important. I understand that some nights when you get home, you just don't have the energy to get out with your child and run around. You can still have a game night or something similar. Family time absolutely promotes emotional well-being!
